a modern approach
Types of Psychotherapy Utilized:
-
helps people identify & change thinking and behavior patterns that are harmful or ineffective, replacing them with more accurate thoughts and functional behaviors. It can help a person focus on current problems and how to solve them.
-
is a specific type of CBT that helps regulate emotions. It teaches new skills to help people take personal responsibility to change unhealthy or disruptive behavior.
-
EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.
-
Narrative Therapy focuses on the understanding of each person’s own story and how the person’s emotions, actions, and problems fit into the context of the story. When the person frames their life in a way that revolves around a traumatic experience, those feelings and stress stay with them. It separates a person from their problem and encourages people to rely on their own skills to minimize problems that exist in their lives.
-
FBT also known as the Maudsley Method, is an outpatient form of treatment for medically-stable patients with eating disorders that puts parents in charge of nourishing their child, while a therapist provides coaching and support. FBT is one of the best-researched treatments for adolescent eating disorders. Parents are tasked with supporting eating and normal behaviors in their teens, without waiting for motivation. FBT is supported by a manual.
-
ERP is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person’s obsessions in a safe environment. ERP provides a patient with coping skills for when a triggering situation presents itself, allowing them to then use the skills to prevent their compulsion from taking over.
-
EFT is a form of short-term therapy that aims to improve couple relationships by rekindling the physical and emotional bond that can get sacrificed to disappointment in a partner and alienation from them, a common dynamic in distressed couples.
-
CPT is an evidenced-based manualized treatment that has been found effective for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other corollary symptoms following traumatic events. It focuses on how the traumatic event is construed and coped with by a person who is trying to regain a sense of mastery and control in his or her life.
-
Somatic-Experiencing is a body-centered approach to treating PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that, rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions associated with a traumatic event, expands to include the natural bodily (somatic) responses.
-
Young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma are often caught up with negative thoughts about the past, or worries and fear about the future. A mindfulness approach helps them to come back to the “now.” Techniques used may include: meditation, breathing methods, guided imagery and yoga.
rates & insurance
Please Note: Each provider is in network with different insurance companies and has different self pay rates. Check the Providers page for more details.
*Some individuals may be able to use their out of network benefits to receive reimbursement for some of the costs associated with therapy when privately paying.
Why private pay? Some clients choose private pay so that therapy is not dictated by diagnoses, treatment plans and session limits. Mental health diagnoses must be submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement, and some clients choose to keep their therapy experience private.
Payments: All payments will be collected by credit card (most major credit cards or HSA card) at the end of each visit, which will be stored electronically using HIPAA compliant medical records software.
*sliding scale rates are offered on an as-needed basis
Cancellation Policy
24 (weekday) hours' notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment. In cases of less than 24 hours' notice of a cancellation, or of a missed appointment, a client will be required to pay the full cost of the missed session. This policy may be re-considered in cases of emergency.
getting started
Clinical Intake Assessment
During your first visit, your therapist will work with you to complete a comprehensive assessment of symptoms, psychosocial and medical history, and help you establish therapy goals. They will also help you establish an evidenced-based treatment plan and make appropriate recommendations.
Telehealth Visits (link here to the client portal)
Using a HIPPA compliant software, we also offer telehealth sessions using Doxy Me for Massachusetts residents. This service is great if you are looking to maintain therapy while away at college or during lunch break.
